Leadership:
Sororities and fraternities are dedicated to building strong future leaders by providing a wealth of leadership opportunities. Membership in a Greek organization is one of the most outstanding means of discovering and refining your leadership potential. Within each chapter there are a multitude of opportunities to obtain leadership roles requiring different degrees of abilities and investments, while cultivating these skills and complimenting future career decisions.
The Greek community at Central Michigan University is committed to the growth and development of its members through leadership. Members enjoy the opportunities to practice their leadership skills at both the chapter and campus level. Greek men and women represent 3% of the American population yet are a very influential 3%.
- 42% of US Senators are Greek
- 30% of US Congress members are Greek
- 40% of all US Supreme Court Justices have been Greek
- 30% of the top executives of Fortune 500 companies are Greek
- 81% of fraternity and sorority members have participated in at least one fundraising event, while more than half (57%) of non-Greek members never did so.
- A U.S. Government study shows that 71% of fraternity/sorority members persist to graduate versus just over 50% of all non Greek students.

Scholarship:
Greeks at Central Michigan University are committed to promoting and rewarding academic excellence. Panhellenic Council and Interfraternity Council, as well as individual chapters, provide a well rounded variety of programming geared toward achieving and maintaining academic success. Each semester the Greek Community hosts an Academic Awards ceremony to honor those chapters and individual members who realize scholastic excellence.
Philanthropy:
One of the greatest benefits of Greek Life is the ability to provide human service for others and make a difference in the community. Every sorority and fraternity on campus has at least one philanthropy to which they donate time and money through sponsoring many different events. Philanthropic work is a great way to participate within your own chapter as well as support other chapter's charitable endeavors.
Sisterhood & Brotherhood:
Building strong friendships that will far outlast your collegiate years is something every sorority or fraternity at Central offers. It's more than wearing Greek letters, attending meetings, and social events. Sisterhood and brotherhood provide security and belonging as well as acceptance for being who you are. It's knowing your sisters or brothers are a support network that can be relied on.

Ritual:
For every sorority and fraternity, ritual is the foundation and most important aspect of Greek life. Every chapter has its own ritual, unique to their group. It distinguishes sororities and fraternities from one another and is the common bond shared between sisters and brothers. Ritual is so important to each Greek organization, that it is only discussed between active members of the same Greek organization.

Athletics:
Every semester each Greek organization participates in various university intramural sports. Whether it is flag football, floor hockey, volleyball, or soccer, Greeks can always be found supporting their chapters as sporting events are considered a sense of pride for Greek organizations. Sporting events promote Greek unity, healthy competition, and provide opportunities for Greeks to socialize and network.

Social:
From date parties and formals to sorority and fraternity mixers, the social aspect of Greek life provides opportunities for the building of a strong and close-knit Greek community. Central Michigan University Greek Life promotes conducting social activities in a responsible manner and is fully committed to the safety and well-being of its Greek members.
