Letter from Greek Life Advisor
Greetings Parents,
As Assistant Director of Student Life at Central Michigan University, I am
privileged to work with all student organizations at CMU including our men and women involved in Greek Life. Going Greek can be a wonderful experience for your child as he/she makes their way towards graduation. Greek Life offers many opportunities for students to make new friends, develop leadership skills, volunteer, and become active citizens in the Mount Pleasant community.
At CMU there are many different fraternities and sororities and your student should be encouraged to check them all out. If your student takes the time to learn about each Greek organization they will be able to make a very good decision as to which group is right for them. Some things your student should ask include:
- What is the Fraternity/Sorority GPA?
- How does this Fraternity/ Sorority rank academically?
- What will becoming an active member require?
- What is the Fraternity's/ Sorority's philanthropy?
- How will joining a Fraternity/Sorority benefit me?
- What costs are associated with Greek Life?
Greek Life can be a very positive part of your child's development into adulthood. Students who go Greek strive to be the best leaders, scholars, and citizens that CMU has to offer. Should you have any questions regarding the Greek community or any other organizations at CMU I would welcome your phone calls or emails.
Sincerely,
Thomas Idema
