- Date: Tuesday, September 25
- Time: 8:00 pm
- Place: Field next to Finch Fieldhouse
Participation
Maroon Cup and Golden Goblet participants.
Objective
A fun and easy competition that requires little preparation for RSO’s. Teams will build spirit and energy and work cohesively together.
Rules
- Each participating group will assemble into teams of at most seven. Teams without enough participants may allow a team member to eat twice, however, that participant must stay at their initial post before continuing on to eat the next item to avoid the advantage of a “strong” competitor eating twice.
- The food will be consumed person-by-person, with the next item not being eaten until the previous one is finished. Items will include:
- can of pop
- A hotdog
- A bag of chips
- A slice of watermelon
- A glass of lemonade
- A banana
- A cup of jello(no spoon)
- A cream pie
- Teams are not racing against one another, but against the clock. A judge will be in place to determine when one item is finished and when the next item can be eaten. Also, two judges will have stop watches, with the two times being averaged, to alleviate human error.
- The item must be completely chewed and swallowed before the team gets the judges “okay” to continue.
- The team with the fastest time wins.
Scoring
1st Place – 35 Points
2nd Place – 25 Points
3rd Place – 20 Points

- Date: Wednesday, September 26
- Time: 7:00 pm
- Place: Field by Finch Fieldhouse
Participation
Maroon Cup and Golden Goblet Participants (Field Games only)
Objective
For teams to work together and cheer each other on in a fun series of athletic challenges, including a unique relay and a tug of war competition.
Rules – Field Games
- Teams will be made up of 10 members. For teams that do not have 10 members, they can have members compete in an event twice.
- Each member will be assigned to a station that has a specified task. The next member may not go until the previous member(s) has completed their task. The events include:
- Sack Race
- Pie Eating contest
- Three-legged Race (2 members)
- Balloon Pop with sword
- Wheelbarrow (2 members)
- Find the buried treasure
- Egg on spoon
- Water balloon toss finale
- Teams will compete in heats featuring 4-6 teams at a time, drawn at random.
- Teams are not competing directly against one another, but against the clock. The best time wins.
- Judges will be in place near each station to ensure participants fully complete their events before “tagging” the next team member.
- Unsuccessfully completing an event (i.e. dropping an egg off a spoon) requires that individual to go back to the
beginning of their station and start again.
- Time penalties can be added if team members are judged to not have completed an event fully (i.e. someone didn’t eat their whole pie and moved on without being told).
- Teams cannot do anything to interfere with or inhibit the progress of the opposing teams.
Rules – Tug of War
- Teams will grasp each end of the rope. Tape or cloth will be used to mark the middle of the rope, which will be centered over a cone before beginning. Two other cones will be placed an equal distance away from the middle one, representing the line that must be crossed for victory. These cones will be placed approximately 10-15 feet apart based on further judgment.
- Teams will be selected to compete against one another at random.
- After the judge counts down and yells “go,” teams may
begin to pull their respective ends of the rope. The winner is
the one who crosses the center of the rope over the cone on
their end of the field.
- The winner of each match will move on to face another
competitor. The loser is eliminated.
- The last team standing wins the competition.
- Cleats, gloves, tape, or other similar methods of
assistance are not allowed. Discovery of these items, or
anything else deemed inappropriate can lead to elimination from
the challenge.

- Date: Thursday, September 27
- Time: 7:00 p.m.
- Place: Bovee University Center (3rd floor various rooms and auditorium)
Participation:
Maroon Cup participants
Objective:
To compete in a trivia challenge as a team, testing participants’ knowledge of
various topics relating to Central Michigan University.
Rules:
- The challenge
will be played in four preliminary rounds. Teams will disperse
into four different perspective rooms throughout the Bovee UC
third floor.
- In each room,
the teams will be given a sheet with 10 questions they must
answer from a given category. After five (5) minutes, teams will
be instructed to turn in their answer sheets and rotate rooms.
Teams will visit every room. Only two teams will be allowed in a
room at a given time. Teams will wait their turn to answer each
round’s questions, and categories will not change until every
team has responded to each.
- To answer the
questions for each round, the teams will have to come up with a
consensus answer that they will write down on their answer
sheet. The teams must keep in mind that there is a five (5)
minute time limit for each room and any unanswered questions
will be marked as incorrect responses.
- The judge will
mark down the total number of correct answers the team receives
and keep the score private. Answers to the questions will not be
released. After the five minutes is over, the judge will total
the team’s number of points for that round and direct the
team(s) to the next room.
- After four
rounds of rotation, all of the teams will meet back as one large
group for the announcement of the four teams who had the highest
scores.
- All of the
judges will total each team’s number of points accumulated from
all of the rooms. The top four teams with the highest number of
points will be announced and they will compete in a semi-final
trivia round. All other teams are eliminated from the
competition, but are encouraged to stay and watch the remaining
rounds.
- The four teams
will be divided into two rounds. Team A will face Team B in the
first semi-final round, and Team C will face Team D in the
second. A coin will be flipped to see which team receives the
first question of the round, and that team has 10 seconds to
come up with a consensus response which they must present to the
judges. If their response is correct they receive one point. If
the team presents an incorrect response, Team B has an
opportunity to steal the point by giving the right answer. The
first team to five points from each round moves on to the final
round. Third place will be awarded to the team with the third
highest number of points.
- The final two
teams will receive one question which they have 30 seconds to
form a consensus answer. At the end of the 30 seconds, both
teams will announce their answers to the judges. Whichever team
responds correctly wins the trivia competition! The incorrect
team receives second place. If both teams give correct answers,
or if both teams provide incorrect answers, a new question will
be given until a winner is decided.
Additional Information:
- Each team can bring up
to 10 participants to the trivia challenge.
- The semi-final and final
rounds will tentatively take place in the UC auditorium,
while all preliminary rounds will be played in the 3rd
floor UC rooms.
- Judges have the final
authority on the correctness/incorrectness of a response.
- The categories for each of
the four preliminary room rounds are: Residence Life, CMU
History, Central Pride/Athletics, and Notable Alumni.
Scoring:
1st place- 45 points
2nd place- 35 points
3rd place- 20 points
